I. PETER HALLOCK

PETER HALLOCK, was the founder of the Hallock family in America. He was born in England about 1595.

Peter's first wife had only one child.

Child:

He married second, the widow HOWELL who had a son (Richard) and daughter from a former marriage.

Peter came to America with his pastor, Rev. Youngs and twelve others, all members of the Presbyterian Church in Hingham, Norfolk, Co., England. They immediately set up a church naming the place Southold, apparently after a Southhold in their native land. He returned to England for his second wife.

He purchased a strip of land from the Indians in the western part of which is now Mattituck. His wife's son, Richard Howell, was settled on the west part of this strip, and his descendant, Elizabeth Howell still occupied it as of 1966. The old homestead was on the east part, and the farm is still held by his descendant, George Omar Hallock, of the ninth generation.


II. WILLIAM HALLOCK

WILLIAM HALLOCK, was the son of Peter Hallock and his first wife. William was born in England about 1610 and died in Aquebogue, on West Mattituck, as now known. He died on 29 September 1684 at Aquebogue, Now West Mattituck, Suffolk Co., New York.

He married MARGARET HOWELL, daughter of the widow Howell, prior to becoming his father's second wife. They were married about 1640.

William and Margaret settled on the land purchased by his father Peter. He willed the land where he lived to his sons Thomas and Peter; to William he gave land near Southold; to John he gave land in Wading River.


III. JOHN HALLOCK

JOHN HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock and Margaret Howell. He was born about 1658 at Long Island, New York. John died in 1737 at Setauket, Long Island.

He married ABIGAIL SWAZEY around 1678. Abigail died on 23 January 1737 at Setauket, Long Island.

III. PETER HALLOCK

PETER HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock and Margaret Howell and born about 1665/1689.

He married ELIZA in 1668.


III. THOMAS HALLOCK

THOMAS HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock and Margaret Howell. He was born about 1660 and the date of his death and place of burial are unknown.

Thomas married HOPE about 1680.

Thomas was given in his father's will, the western half of the Peter Hallock purchase in Aquebogue, on West Mattituck. He undoubtable lived and died upon this land, but nothing is known about his death or burial.


III. WILLIAM HALLOCK

WILLIAM HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock and Margaret Howell. He was born about 1667 and died in 1736.

He married MARY around 1688.


IV. ZERUBABEL HALLOCK

ZERUBABEL HALLOCK, was the son of Thomas Hallock and Hope. He was born in 1696 and died on April 8, 1761.

He married ESTHER OSMAN on 1 January 1719. She was born in 1695 and died on 17 February 1773.

Zerubabel was a farmer of Mattituck, L.D. He and Esther are buried in Mattituck Parish Cemetery.


V. WILLIAM HALLOCK

WILLIAM HALLOCK, was the son of Zerubabel Hallock and Esther Osman. He was born in 1725 and died in 1749, drowning in his home waters with his brother John at the age of 24.

He married about 1749

VI. WILLIAM HALLOCK

WILLIAM HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock. William was born in 1750 and died in January 1824.

He married DEBORAH HILDRETH about 1773. She died about 1788.

William lived on East Middle Road, not far from Riverhead, Long Island. His occupation was farming. He served in the First Regiment of Minute Men under Colonel Josiah Smith.


VII. WILLIAM HALLOCK

WILLIAM HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock and Deborah Hildreth. He was born in 1774 and died in 1824. He is bured at the Aquebogue Cemetery.

He married ESTHER about 1798. She was born in 1775 and died in 1859.

William lived in Old Aquebogue, Long Island. He was a farmer.


VIII. CALEB HALLOCK

CALEB HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock and Esther. He was born on 14 June 1808 in Riverhead and died on 16 June 1892 at the age of 84 years and two days. His grave is in Riverhead Cemetery.

He married LOUISA A. JONES who was the daughter of Jonathan Jones and Martha Wines of Orient, Long Island. Louisa died on 1 June 1849, at the age of 42.

He married MARY E. TUTHILL, who was born in 1815 and died on 6 November 1885 as by her gravestone in Riverhead Cemetery. She was the daughter of Daniel Tuthill.

Caleb was a carpenter and builder. He, with others, built most of the large hotels now standing (1942) in Quoque, Long Island. Caleb lived in Riverhead until he was 60 or 65 years old, when he bought a farm in Calverton, where he lived until his death. He willed his farm to his three sons but William Henry bought his brothers' shares from them.


IX. HORACE B. HALLOCK

HORACE B. HALLOCK, was the son of Caleb Hallock and Louisa A. Jones. He was born in 1848 and died in 1923.

He married ANNIE SPEARS.

Horace was a farmer.


X. EDGAR TUTHILL HALLOCK

EDGAR TUTHILL HALLOCK, was the son of Horace B. Hallock and Annie Spears. Edgar was born 30 December 1890 and was still alive in 1 January 1969.

In July 1912, Edgar married GERTRUDE HALLOCK on 31 July 1912. She was the daughter of his cousin William H. Hallock, Jr. She died on 10 December 1918.

In July 1920, Edgar married HELEN ROBERTA HEAD.

IX. WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK

WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK, was the son of Caleb Hallock and Louisa A. Jones. He was born on May 23, 1838 and died in June 1918. He is buried in Riverhead, Long Island, New York.

He married FANNIE B. CLARK. She was born on December 19, 1840 and died January 19, 1897. Both are buried in Riverhead Cemetery.

William Henry was a carpenter and stair builder. When a young man he owned a large sloop and during the Civil War, he carried pig iron from Greenport, Long Island, to New London, Conn. Sometimes his wife accompanied him on these 2 and 3 day trips.

After the war he sold his sloop and settled on 134th Street in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. His wife wanted him to invest his money in Morrisania Real Estate, which if he had, would have made him wealthy. Instead, he went into the tea and coffee business and lost all his money. After his father's death, he lived on the farm in Calverton. Later he sold the this farm and bought one in East Moriches, where he lived until he died in 1918.


X. WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK JR.

WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK, JR., was the son of William Henry Hallock and Fannie B. Clark. He was born on August 8, 1867 and died on June 20, 1911.

William was what is called a self-made man, having had to go to work at a very early age. He graduated in 1889 from the Cooper Union Night School of Art, course in Architectural Drawing.

He married SARAH ROSALTHA ODELL on May 31, 1887. She was the daughter of Henry Clay Odell and Harriet Sophia Conklin (who was a descendant of John Conklin who with Peter Hallock, Thomas Mapes and others were the founders of Southold, Long Island in 1640). She died on December 11, 1938 in Flushing, Long Island, New York.

The family made their home in Bedford Park (on Webster Ave., north of Scott) in New York City until 1901 when they moved to Schnectady. Summers were spent on the much loved farm in Medway, Greene County, until 1908 when they moved back to New York City. Graves of the deceased are in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Flushing, Long Island, New York. The plot is on Maple Avenue.

William served in the Spanish-American War. On May 15, 1895, he joined the National Guard, Company C., 8th Regiment. On February 23, 1899 he was commissioned Captain by Governor Theodore Roosevelt and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1900. He was a faithful member of the Adult Bible Class of Bethany Presbyterian Church, where he also sang in the choir.


XI. LESTER EDGAR HALLOCK

LESTER EDGAR HALLOCK, was the son of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell, was born on March 2, 1888 and died January 20, 1950. Lester is buried in Brookside Cemetery, Preston Hollow, New York.

He married LILLIAN SUSAN RIVENBURG in 1908. She was the daughter of Noah Riverburgh and Louina Davis of Greenville, New York. Lillian was born on March 22, 1888 and died October 2, 1965.

As a young man, Lester worked in the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, New York, and studied art at Mechanics Institute.


XII. DOROTHY LILLIAN HALLOCK

DOROTHY LILLIAN HALLOCK, was the daughter of Lester Hallock and Lillian Riverburg. She was born Sseptember 26, 1911 at Greenville, New York.

On September 27, 1930, she married LELAND HOWARD COOKE, son of Albert Talmadge Cooke and Jennie Amelia Bouton. Leland was born on November 3, 1908 at Rensselaerville, New York. They had a dairy farm at Preston Hollow, New York.

Dorothy was a graduate of Greenville Free Academy and attended Albany State College.

XII. ORSON LESTER HALLOCK

ORSON LESTER HALLOCK, was the son of Lester Hallock and Lillian Riverburg. He was born September 2, 1915 at Medusa, New York.

On December 9, 1942, Orson married GERTRUDE CATHERINE FINKLE of Albany, New York. She was born August 19, 1925 and was the daughter of Charles Edward Finkle and Gertrude Mossman.

In World War II he served with the 109th Infantry, 28th Div., and was in the Battle of the Bulge. He saw service in England, Wales, Scotland, France, Belgium, Luxemburg, Holland, and Germany.

XII. BEVERLY JEAN HALLOCK

BEVERLY JEAN HALLOCK, was the daughter of Orson Hallock and Gertrude Finkle. She was born on December 2, 1946.

On July 21, 1965, Beverly married RAYMOND HARRY MORSE, son of Leon Ira Morse and Lois Marie Weaver. He was born July 12, 1944.

XII. ESTHER EDNA HALLOCK

ESTHER EDNA HALLOCK, was the daughter of Lester Hallock and Lillian Riverburg. She was born on November 7, 1917 at Medusa, New York. Edna was a graduate of Greenville Central School, Greenville, New York, class of June 1937.

On May 30, 1939 she married RALPH HIRAM GOODFELLOW at Freehold, New York. He was the son of Smith Hay Goodfellow and Ella May Young. He was born on April 11, 1910.

XII. WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK

WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK, was the son of Lester Hallock and Lillian Riverburg. He was born on October 17, 1927 at Medusa, New York.

He married BARBARA LOUISE TREATOR at the Medusa Christian Church by the Rev. L. F. Starr. She was the daughter of Orlando Teator and Glenna Fitch. She was born on October 21, 1931.

Billy served with the U.S. Army in Korea, during the Korean Conflict.

XI. FLORENCE ADINA HALLOCK

FLORENCE ADINA HALLOCK, was the daughter of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell, was born April 28, 1892 and died May 13, 1920.

She married ARCHIE HOWELL of East Moriches, Long Island in October 1918. Florence and Archie were married by Dr. Robert G. Davey, minister of Bethany Presbyterian Church on East 137th Street, Bronx, New York City, where the family worshipped for many years. Florence and Archie lived in East Moriches, Long Island.

In 1921, Archie Sr. re-married and he and his second wife, HELEN, moved to Franklin, Mass. where they lived as of 1968.


XI. GEORGE HOMER “Holmes” HALLOCK

GEORGE HOLMES HALLOCK, was the son of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell, was born May 29, 1894.

He married SUSAN GALRAITH STEEL on December 20, 1924. Susan was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 19, 1895.

Holmes attended Cooper Union and City College in New York and graduated from Mechanics Institute, Course of Architectual Drafting on April 2, 1923. Holmes enlisted in the 30th Co. of the Coast Defense, U.S. Army on July 31, 1917. He served overseas in WWI from July 15, 1918 to June 19, 1919. He was honorably discharged on July 15, 1919 and was entitled to one gold chevron. He was #603-085.


XII. HOLMES WILLIAM HALLOCK

HOLMES WILLIAM HALLOCK, was the son of George Hallock and Susan Steel. He was born on May 1, 1928 in Flushing, New York.

On October 1, 1950, he married LUCY EVELYN GREENE, daughter of Edward Jesse Green and Lillian Salter of Flushing. Lucy was born on February 24, 1930. She was a graduate of Bayside High School with an academic diploma, class of February 1948. Holmes and Lucy were married by the Pastor Theodore Ressler, in the Luthern Chuch of the Messiah, Flushing, New York.

Holmes entered the service of the U.S. Army on January 31, 1951. He was in the Engineer Corps stationed at Fort Worden, state of Washington, and was discharged January 30, 1953 with the rank of Sergeant.


XI. EDNA HAZEL HALLOCK

EDNA HAZEL HALLOCK, was the daughter of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell, was born June 25, 1895 in New York City.

She married Otis Averill Palmer on October 12, 1916. He was born on October 11, 1892 in East Moriches, New York and died April 15, 1957. He was a boat builder. On February 21, 1937, their marriage was dissolved by law.

Hazel married Roderick Dhu MacAlpine on May 14, 1938. He was born November 19, 1890, in Spokane, Washington.

Hazel studied art at Ballard School, Columbia University and Hunter College, and became a commercial artist.


XI. WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK III

WILLIAM HENRY HALLOCK, III, was the son of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell, was born on October 22, 1898 in New York City.

He married BLANCHE LAURA BROWN on July 21, 1923. She was born in Coal Valley, Illinois on July 5, 1900. She was the daughter of Charles and Bertha Brown of Webster, New York. They were married by her father, the Rev. Charles Brown, pastor of the Webster Presbyterian Church. Blanche was a graduate of Webster High School, class of June 1916, valedictorian of her class and also received her B.A. in June, 1920.

Bill graduated from Stuyvesant High School, New York City in June 1916 and received a scholarship to Cornell University. Only two students from each county in New York with the highest scholastic standing receive these scholarships. After two years in Cornell he returned to New York City and joined the SATC at Columbia University where he completed his education. He was a certified public account in Cadadaigua, New York, and also taught accounting at the University of Rochester. In 1936, Bill was elected Justice of the Peace, in Webster, New York and was a Councilman from 1940 to 1956.


XII. VIRGINIA BLANCHE HALLOCK

VIRGINIA BLANCHE HALLOCK, was the daughter of William Hallock III and Blanche Brown. She was born on July 29, 1925 in Webster, New York.

On June 24, 1948, she married GORDON P. LIDDLE, son of Frank M. Liddle and Margaret Nobel. He was born on December 8, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo. They were married in her parent's home in Webster, New York, by her maternal grandfather, the Rev. Charles Brown. Gordon graduated from Oberlin College in 1947. He received his Ph.D. in Psychology, at the University of Chicago in 1959. He was the general director of IRCORPS (Interprofessional Research Commission on Pupil Personal Services) at the University of Maryland.

Virginia was valedictorian of her class when the graduated from Webster High School on June 21, 1943. She received her B.A. at Oberlin College, Oberlin, Ohio in 1947. She received her Master of Education from the University of Maryland in June 1968.


XII. HAZEL BERTHA HALLOCK

HAZEL BERTHA HALLOCK, was the daughter of William Hallock III and Blanche Brown. She was born on December 11, 1928, in Webster, New York.

She married JOSEPH R. HERR, the son of Joseph Herr and Grace Aiken of Lockport, New York. He was born August 23, 1925. They were married by her maternal grandfathers, the Rev. Charles Brown of Webster. Joe was graduated from Cornell University on June 12, 1950. He received his degree in Electrical Engineering.

Hazel was a graduate of Webster High School, class of June 1946 of which she was valedictorian. She graduated from Cornell University on June 12, 1950 with 'Distinction in Mathematics'.


XII. DONALD CHARLES HALLOCK

DONALD CHARLES HALLOCK, was the son of William Hallock III and Blanche Brown. He was born on July 8, 1930 in Webster, New York.

On March 5, 1954, Donald married MARY LOU RENFRIED, daughter of Francis Samuel Reinfried and Loretta Margaret Jones. Mary Lou was born on March 31, 1932 and graduated from Jeannette High School, PA in 1951.

He was valedictorian of the class of June 1948 of Webster High School. The Webster Herald of June 24, 1948, said: It's a Hallock Tradition to be Valedictorian. On June 15, 1953, Donald recoved the degree of Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. Donald became a professional engineer of Penna and was a Compresson Sales Marketing Manager at Ellicott Co., Jeannette, PA. On 1966 he recieved first prize of $1,000 in the 66-67 Compressed Air and Gas Institute technical article program competition. His paper was titled Centrifugal Compressers - The Cause of the Curve.


XI. AMY GOODALL HALLOCK

AMY GOODALL HALLOCK, was the daughter of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell, born July 9, 1900 in Bedford Park, New York. She died December 9, 1963 in Jamaica, Long Island. She is buried in the family plot in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Flushing, New York.

She married AUGUST SCHMAND in October 18, 1922 at her mother's home on Queensboro Hill, Flushing, Long Island, New York. Amy and August were married by Dr. Robert G. Davey, minister of Bethany Presbyterian Church on East 137th Street, Bronx, New York City. August was born on November 21, 1892. He was the son of August and Mary Schmand of Staten Island, New York. He was an engineer. August died in April, 1951 and is buried in the family plot in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Flushing, New York.

XI. KENNETH ODELL HALLOCK

KENNETH ODELL HALLOCK, was the son of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell. Kenneth was born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 17, 1903. He died June 7, 1949 at Canadaigua, New York. He is buried in the family plot in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Flushing, New York.

He married EDITH HELEN WILLARD of Flushing, New York, on August 11, 1926. She was the daughter of Henry Teague Willard and Winifred Griffin. She was born on June 17, 1906 in Long Island City, New York.

Kenneth Hallock

Kenneth served in World War II in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer 'Plunkett'. He was in the battle of Anzio in trhe Mediterranean Theater.


XII. KENNETH ODELL HALLOCK JR.

KENNETH ODELL HALLOCK, JR., was the son of Kenneth Odell and Edith Willard. He was born in Flushing, New York on December 30, 1932.

On Janaury 7, 1957, Kenneth married RUBY BELLE HIEBER, daughter of Silvan Glenn and Lilla Belle Hieber. Ruby was born April 13, 1936.

Kenneth and Ruby lived in Redwood City, California.


XI. DOROTHY ELOISE HALLOCK

DOROTHY ELOISE HALLOCK, was the daughter of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell,. She was born September 11, 1905 on the family farm in Medway, Green County, New York in the Catskills. On May 6, 1909, when Dorothy was three years and seven months old, she died from pneumonia, following measles. This was the first death in the family. She is buried in the family plot at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Flushing, Long Island, New York.


XI. GERTRUDE HALLOCK

GERTRUDE HALLOCK, was the daughter of William Henry Hallock Jr. and Sarah Rosaltha Odell. She was born on April 24, 1890, in New York City and died on December 10, 1918. Gertrude is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Flushing, Long Island, New York.

On July 31, 1912, she married her father's cousin, EDGAR TUTHILL HALLOCK, son of Horace B. and Annie Spears. Edgar was born on December 31, 1890. He was an accountant. He married later Helen Head in Plainfield, New Jersey.

XII. GEORGE HOLMES HALLOCK

GEORGE HOLMES HALLOCK, was the son of Gertrude and Edgar Hallock. He was born on December 16, 1916 in New York City.

On June 10, 1937, George married RUTH ALLEN of Binghamton, New York. They were divorced on September 15, 1946.

Children:
– Michael Hallock
– Katherine Hallock

On November 18, 1946, George married HARRIET LARSON of Jameston, New York. She was a school teacher.

Child:
– Cynthia Hallock

George graduated from the College of Universal Truth, Chicago, Illinois, on February 1, 1953. He received his Doctor of Divinity degree on May 12, 1953
